Subject: [humanmarkup] Re: [humanmarkup-comment] Various Updates

We need to check with Karl first, I think, since it is more a matter
of getting an OK from OASIS than of choice. I think the main issue
will always be the two fold requirement of public accountability in
the form of an accurate transcription and public availability in the
form of reliability, both of which have to be acceptable to OASIS.

I don't have any objection with the emphasis, or, in other words,
whether we establish that Yahoo or Teleconference is the official
record venue, but I would like to make it clear. Is YahooChat capable
of transcription that is independent of an individual connection? As
I recall, it doesn't do that or wasn't reliable.

The whole point for me is to eliminate the necessity of spending most
of my time taking notes, but as I have said before, I can do that.

Right now, I think that having the Teleconference be the record venue
satisfies OASIS without the necessity of having to check back with
them, which I don't have time to do before next Wednesday in so far
as having a business day in which to do it that isn't already
overbooked.

So I suggest we just go ahead and let the teleconference with
hand-written notes for minutes, stand because we don't have the time
to dance around with this issue. However, if they don't want to incur
the long distance charges to use the international lines we provide,
our international folks can chime in on a Yahoo IM conference, which
requires them sign up (free) at yahoo.com and post their username so
we can invite them into the easily and reliably recordable conference
where can make a transcript of that simultaneous session, which I
can use to assemble the full minutes which I will post and we can
vote on the list to accept, and thus satisfy all of the OASIS
requirements, allow everyone to participate without charges beyond
their internet connection, and not have to hassle with getting
permission from OASIS with less than week until the meeting itself.
Let's just get this meeting done, eh?

Perhaps after the first of the year About.com will finally respond to
me, or we can find something else.

Ciao,
Rex
