Subject: Virtual/Augmented Reality for Immersive Environments--SBIR/STTRGrants 1 of 3

Title: Virtual/Augmented Reality for Immersive Environments--SBIR
Hi Everyone,

For this week's OASIS TC meeting  this is one of the agenda topics under SBIR/STTR Grant Proposals, and, for Humanmarkup.org's next meeting (next Wednesday 5:30 p.m. on YahooIM) this will also be a topic.

Overview for
Virtual/Augmented Reality for Immersive Environments
Enabling E-Communities and Communities of/for Practice for Medicine and Emergency Management
Multi-Purpose Immersive Environments for Remote Diagnosis and Treatment of Physical and Mental/Emotional Conditions under Stress and/or Triage

This will be a collaboration of Humanmarkup.org, Inc., NDSU ATL, OASIS HPCDML SC, W3DC Medical Working Group and QDA with Starbourne Communications Design for Remote Medical Visualization in 3D for use in emergency treatment situations modelled in scenarios for conducting Remote Diagnosis and Triage, delivering diagnosis-specific treatments and providing Remote Mental and Emotional Counseling, while simultaneously accessing and adding to existing medical and psychological Knowledge Bases.

This Grant Proposal can center on two specific kinds of applications which have significant commercial potential:

  1. HumanMLWriteReport Collaboration Application with Face-Enhanced Chat module.
(See http://www.starbourne.com for emotional engine/facial musculoskeletal examples.)
           Features:
-Individual Embedded 3D Avatar Head Windows for Chat Participants
                       (adaptable for panelists in 'webinars')
-Web and on-site attendees have feedback capability using shared
WriteReport to capture audience reactions as well as facial
                     responses of chat windows
-Automatic HumanML annotations in transcript of session
                -Individual Knowledge/Information Capture
-Annotations tabulated for summarizing (report writing and
report delivery for analyses and conclusions ready for use in
                   decision-making
-Adaptable for shared situations such as collaborative remote
diagnosis and triage decisions in emergency treatment
                   scenarios
-Adaptable for Web Services Portals as modular configuration
    2. 3D Medical Imaging for Shared Immersive Collaboration Engvironment
           Features:
-Standardized 3D Human Medical representation of organ systems
-Adaptable in modular fashion for quick representation of
conditions (fever, sweating, convulsions, etc), injuries (broken
limbs, lacerations, gunshot wounds, etc) and combinations
(infected lacerations, injury progressing into shock, etc.)
                     -Capable of demonstrating treatment quickly
-Capable of simultaneously entering observational data
into emergency treatment form recorded locally and remotely for
later inclusion in individual case files
-Capable of recording on-site digital photography, video and audio
                      for later transcription using HumanML--HPCDML + HMML(Legal)

This is offered as a starting point for collaborations in developing the final proposals.
