Subject: Draft Minutes of ICOM TC Meeting, July 21, 2010
Minutes of ICOM TC Meeting, July 21,
taken by Eric S. Chan Agenda 1. Roll Call 2. Status update of milestones 3. Status of ICOM presentation to Ontolog virtual
panel session 4. AOB 1. The following eligible members
were present Deirdre Lee Laura Dragan Patrick Durusau Peter Yim Eric Chan 2. Status update of milestones Deirdre and Laura to write the half page overview while
Stefan is out of office and let Stefan review the write-up. Eric extended the due date for task #5 to write and submit
an article about ICOM.
3. Status of ICOM presentation to Ontolog virtual
panel session Eric suggested Ontolog forum archives are in mbox format. There
are various tools to parse mbox. The prototype we use for Ontolog demo can be
leveraged for task #6 in the milestones.
Laura explained Nepomuk tool
(akonadi feeder) can parse the mbox files, generate nmo, nco and save in the nepomuk
rdf store. We can use then Konduit to transform from 1 ontology to another -
requires construct sparql queries. Peter recommended to preserve the
URL of the forum html archives with the RDF representation of message instances
for task 6 and 7. Eric mentioned the mbox archives
and email channels for Ontolog forum threads are mostly historical
happenstance. Ontolog forum message archives should be normalized into ICOM
forum, topic, discussion messages. Deirdre and Laura suggested the
concept of MailingList, which can be hybrid of Forum and email folder. Peter commented that, eventually,
when we really have to come down to building the ontology for
“collaboration”, we need to make reference to the speech act intents
of the artifacts rather than the “historical” implementation of the
artifacts. Patrick suggested mappings to
normalize model that still can access the content the way the existing
implementation needs. The model should serve for round trip mappings. 4. AOB Deirdre proposed an agenda item to
discuss W3C submission for “Enterprise 2.0 Social Semantic Web”,
which is being prepared by DERI and Cisco. It involves SIOC, user, message,
group, rating, relationship, hierarchy of organizations. There are overlaps
with ICOM. Alexandre Passant sees that the two are complementary model (SIOC is
social aspects), and (ICOM is engineering aspects). The TC Meeting was adjourned. |
