3. Status update of milestones

- Review ICOM overview updated by Deirdre

“Enterprises have traditionally been isolated [self-contained] entities that produce a unique product or service, while fiercely protecting their approaches, ideas and data from their competitors. Nowadays, enterprises are increasingly opening up and collaborating with external organizations on larger or specialized projects, for the mutual benefit of all partners. …. “

Eric suggested to rephrase to

“isolated entities” to say that “enterprises may optimize their business processes by integrating with other enterprises in the supply chains, but mostly lack agility to manage exceptions when their employees are not empowered to collaborate across enterprise boundaries. These enterprises remain largely isolated to produce a unique product or service, while fiercely protecting their approaches, ideas and data from their competitors.”

- Discuss Patrick’s suggestion http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/icom/email/archives/201007/msg00016.html

- Discuss Laura’s proposals http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/icom/email/archives/201007/msg00021.html

We will follow up on Patrick’s suggestion by posting the sample discussion threads from mailing list format and message board. In response to Laura’s proposal, Eric suggested defining generic concepts and compose specialized concepts to meet requirements. For example,

MailingList = Forum + Addressable

UnifiedMessage is more abstract than mbox format for email messages. It represents References and InReplyTo attributes in extensible headers/properties. DiscussionMessage can remain abstract and still support round-trip mapping by preserving all mbox attributes in extensible list of headers/properties.

Another solution, to define an auxiliary class or mixed-in called Discussion as a generic concept to compose new concepts:

DiscussionMessage = Discussion + Message

MailingListMessage = Discussion + UnifiedMessage

MailingList will then have To, CC, and Bcc attributes.

The range of property hasElement [of Forum] can be Discussion, so can include MailingListMessage as well as DiscussionMessage.

4. Status of ICOM presentation to Ontolog virtual  panel session

In Progress. Will have a demo dry run on Aug 4 TC Meeting.
