Subject: Minutes for ICOM TC Meeting on June 20, 8:30 - 9:30 AM PDT

Minutes

1. Roll Call
Ken Baclawski, Patrick Durusau, Laura Dragan, Eric Chan, Peter Yim

2. Review approval process for Committee Specification for ICOM v1. (see OASIS policy http://www.oasis-open.org/policies-guidelines/tc-process#committeeSpec)

Public reviews are required.

We need updates to the UML model, and Eric will be providing them.

There were some minor changes to the draft.

The initial review is 30 days and later reviews are 15 days (minimum).

Ken will be uploading to the ICOM TC repository.

If there are no comments or changes, then there is a vote within the committee.

The chair submits requests for the review and the voting.

Voting members are those who attend 2 consecutive meetings before the ballot. There is a "non-voting member" status.

For a standard, one needs 3 letters confirming use of the standard. One must then lobby the organizational members to confirm the standard.

Ken briefly reported on Enterprise2.0. Companies did seem to be interested in the standard, including IBM.

Eric explained the involvement of Mr. Chancellor Pasquale in ICOM.

Eric and Laura explained the involvement of Mr. Peter Saint-Andre in ICOM.

3. Discussion of translation of ICOM v1 to OWL and other languages.

It is better to have more ways of conforming than fewer, but the various representations must be conformant even if they are not normative.

While the XML Schema representation does not include all of the concepts in the normative model, it is fully conformant in the sense that on can serialize all ICOM objects, and such a serialization can be deserialized correctly by any application that conforms to ICOM.

The mapping to OWL will be conformant with the normative specification. No additional axioms will be added in this version.

4. Plan for ICOM v2 to define social network model. (see the TC Charter http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/icom/charter.php)

5. Continue discussion of the goals of the TC and plans for dissemination.

6. AOB

Because of the holiday on 7/4/2012 in the US, the next meeting will be on
7/11/2012, and the one after that will be on 7/18/2012.
