Agenda

1. Roll Call: Please record your attendance at the meeting.

2. [Ken] Minutes of the meeting on August 22.

3. [Eric and Patrick] Discussion of open JIRA issues.  We can now update the status of issues, but there seems to be a problem with issues ICOM-2 to ICOM-4.  Chet suggested that they be deleted.  The following issues will be discussed (and possibly closed):

https://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/ICOM-5 Adopt an RDF Modeling Tool

https://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/ICOM-15 30-Day Public Review Comment 7

https://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/ICOM-16 30-Day Public Review Comment 8

https://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/ICOM-17 30-Day Public Review Comment 9

4. [Patrick] Discussion of the workflow for handling issues.  The following is the OData workflow:

https://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/odata/document.php?document_id=46690

5. [Ken] Article for submission to the WISE2012 Workshop: Engineering the Semantic Enterprise (ESE2012).  The article has been submitted, but the due date has been extended to September 17, so we can still make changes if we wish to do so.  The files for the paper are now in the ICOM subversion repository at https://tools.oasis-open.org/version-control/svn/icom/articles/wise2012/.  All ICOM members should have access to this repository.  This is now the authoritative version of the paper.

6. [Peter] Discussion of the joint virtual sessions with Ontolog, OASIS and OMG ODM.  Peter has arranged for a conference call to take place on Tuesday, September 4 at 2pm PDT and will be reporting on the result of that meeting for those who did not attend it.

7. Issues for the translation to OWL as part of ICOM v2 and for the java.net article series.
 (a) bi-directional relationships: how should they be specified in the standards document?
 (b) ambiguities: icom_content:Attachment is ambiguous. Should there be a policy for these?
 (c) disjointness conditions: how should they be specified?
 (d) modules: The modules do not coincide with the namespaces.
 (e) description: The description is out of date with the rest of the standard.
 (f) annotation properties for relating classes and properties with their metadata.
 (g) additional property type "Any".

8. If there is time, plan for ICOM v2 to define social network model. (see the TC Charter http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/icom/charter.php)

9. As time allows, continue discussion of the goals of the TC and plans for dissemination.

10. AOB

Minutes

1. Roll Call:

Ken Baclawski, Eric Chan, Laura Dragan, Patrick Durusau, Peter Yim (arrived at 9:17 PDT)

2. [Ken] Minutes of the meeting on August 22.

There were no amendments to the minutes.  They were approved unanimously.

3. [Eric and Patrick] Discussion of open JIRA issues.

https://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/ICOM-5 Adopt an RDF Modeling Tool

Ken moved and Laura seconded that the status of issue ICOM-5 be changed to resolved and then closed.
The motion was approved unanimously.

https://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/ICOM-15 30-Day Public Review Comment 7

Patrick moved and Ken seconded that the issue ICOM-15 be opened.
The motion was approved unanimously.
The issue was discussed and Patrick agreed to propose new wording for Section 5.
Ken will post an action item for it.

https://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/ICOM-16 30-Day Public Review Comment 8

Patrick moved and Ken seconded that the issue ICOM-16 be opened and resolved as proposed.
The motion was approved unanimously.

https://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/ICOM-17 30-Day Public Review Comment 9

Patrick moved and Ken seconded that the issue ICOM-17 be opened.
The motion was approved unanimously.
Patrick agreed to deal with this issue in the new wording he will be proposing for Section 5.

4. [Patrick] Discussion of the workflow for handling issues.

It was generally agreed that the workflow was generally okay, but that there could be some confusion when the TC is dealing with more than one version of the standard at the same time.  To deal with this:

Ken moved and Patrick seconded to accept the OData workflow (https://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/odata/document.php?document_id=46690) with the following amendment: any proposals SHOULD specify the intended version in the Fixes attribute of the issue.

5. [Ken] Article for submission to the WISE2012 Workshop: Engineering the Semantic Enterprise (ESE2012).

Some suggestions were made for additional material in the paper.  Given that there are only 10 days before the extended due date, it is not likely we could add any significant new material.  Ken agreed to write two sentences at the end of the Use Case section introducing some of the inference capabilities that are enabled by this use case.  The sentences will make it clear that this is future work.  Approval of the additional sentences will be handled by email.

6. [Peter] Discussion of the joint virtual sessions with Ontolog, OASIS and OMG ODM.

The first two sessions are scheduled for October 25 at 9:30am PDT/12:30pm EDT and November 8 at  9:30am PST/12:30pm EST.  ICOM members are encouraged to attend.
