Subject: RE: [idtrust-ms] IDtrust Member Section Steering Committee Election Update
The MS list is principally for
announcements but it can be as lively as we choose. All members can post to the
list, exchange ideas, etc. As the programme manager of the MS, most
likely you will find the bulk of the information coming from me. I will discuss
your concerns with the IDtrust Steering Committee on the next call. The StC is currently involved in program
topics for the Fall Forum, http://events.oasis-open.org/home/forum/2008.
I would like to invite input from all
member section members, either in terms of submissions and/or commentary
regarding the focus. Please make recommendations to the list and we will
compile all suggestions for review by the Forum programme committee, as we are
just gearing up now. I wanted to point out another resource
that I hope everyone is using, http://idtrust.xml.org/.
We announced the Focus Area a few months ago and this is a resource to be used
by OASIS members and non-members – please feel free to spread the word! Best, dee From: Peter F Brown
[mailto: OK, so maybe my
question is mis-phrased: what does this list do? Is it just for announcements?
Most TCs and MSs have a members’ list where most of the work that takes place
between meetings is discussed. If everything is done exclusively in the
steering committee, that was not clear to me as a member of the section, but I
would at least expect that notices that SC meetings have taken place and work
has been done, to be posted to this list, rather than having to subscribe to a
second list! Hope this is
clearer! Many thanks for the prompt response. Best regards, Peter From: Dee Schur
[mailto:dee.schur@oasis-open.org] This is an interesting point. The Steering
Committee minutes are almost completely up-to-date on the MS page, except the
last 2 meetings which have not been approved yet. I am wondering what ‘work’
you are speaking about; can you shed some light Peter? Also FYI, any OASIS
members can read anything on the Steering Committee mailing list at any time. Thank you for your feedback. From: Peter F Brown
[mailto: Before I vote, I
would like the candidates’ commitment to doing Member Section business
transparently via the Members’ mailing list. I have heard of much work done,
but there has been no use of this list, except by OASIS staff... Best regards, Peter

open until 11:45 PM EDT on 12-May-2008. Please remember to vote. Best regards, From: Dee Schur
[mailto:dee.schur@oasis-open.org] Greetings IDtrust Member Section Members,
The IDtrust Member Section Steering Committee Election is now open; voting closes 11:45 PM EDT on 12-May-2008.
This year, the Member Section will elect two new Steering Committee members to fill two-year terms and one member to serve a one year (completing the term of a retiring Steering Committee member). The two candidates receiving the highest ranked votes will each serve two-year terms. The candidate receiving the third highest ranked votes will serve a one-year term.
Each IDtrust Supporting Entity has one Qualified Elector who casts the single vote on behalf of his/her organization. Unless otherwise designated, the organization's Primary Rep serves as the Qualified Elector, http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/idtrust-ms/members/roster.php. Each Supporting Entity has one vote, which will be accepted from the Voting Member shown on the roster. The default Voting Member is the Supporting Entity's Primary Contact -- the Primary may defer the voting member role to another employee member by an email to member-services@oasis-open.org, any such change should be in place before the ballot is cast.
To insure that all members and Observers in this member section understand the election process, the voting instructions are as follows:
Cast your vote by email to sc-election@oasis-open.org, your message should be your ranked preference for the candidates. Start with 1, continuing until you have no further preference for the remaining candidates.
1 First Candidate name 2 Second Choice Candidate name 3 Third Choice Candidate name
Your candidates are alphanumerically listed:
John Bradley June Leung Anil Saldhana
The candidate profiles may be found at http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/idtrust-ms/documents.php, located in the ‘2008 IDtrust Steering Committee Candidates’ folder.
The voting will be by email, with the results tallied via the Single Transferable Voting (STV) - Scottish Method. See http://stv.sourceforge.net/Details.html and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singel_transferable_vote.
STV considers your ranked preference for candidates in order to more accurately reflect the wishes of the electorate. In summary, as candidates who you voted for as a top choice win, their excess votes (over what was needed to win) are transferred according to your preferences.
Remember, vote by email to sc-election@oasis-open.org. Deadline is 11:45 PM EDT on 12-May-2008.
Feel free to ask any questions about the process.
Best regards, Dee Schur
