Subject: RE: [ihc] ANN: Healthcare Informatics Panel Discussion 2: Ontolog Forum

 Dear Rex,

Thank you for your supportive comments. We would like to be sure that Ontologies and Knowledge in the more general sense are represented accurately in the standards and specifications that we develop in the IHC. We are pleased to have an outlet to inform Ontolog where the current w3c standards do not yet cover our needs in the healthcare space (for example representations of higher order logics, dealing consistently with uncertainty, etc.). I do follow the webOnt Ontolog Forum list, but have rarely had the time to add to the discussions. I look forward to working with you and welcome any suggestions regarding how the IHC or I could be helpful in moving forward the mission of the semantic web in support of the needs of global health.

With warm regards,

Peter

Hi Brett,

I expected to catch him through IHC, and was hoping we could count on
his active participation in the audience. I also want to make clear
that I am personally seeking suggestions for the three topics from
our group. In particular, I think IHC is a good forum for turning up
those suggestions, with the emphasis on the "International" aspect.
It is an ongoing challenge to us here in the US to avoid losing that
perspective. In particular, I am looking for something focused on the
issue of determining as far as one can, how various licensing
standards for physicians and technicians as well as issues of file
formats such as DICOM.

Ciao,
Rex
