Subject: revised text to address missing conformance sections -- please review today
Hi - I've included below revised proposed text for the missing conformance sections in the "KMIP Usage Guide" and the "KMIP Use Cases" documents, based on Mary's suggestions. Please let me know of any corrections, changes or concerns by end of day today (12 midnight US Pacific Standard Time)? If there are none, the KMIP editors and co-chairs will submit this text tomorrow to the OASIS staff for inclusion in the KMIP Usage Guide and KMIP Use Cases documents that are going to public review. Insert in "KMIP Usage Guide" as new Section 5 (immediately preceding appendix A): 5 Implementation Conformance This document is intended to be informational only and as such has no conformance clauses. The conformance requirements for the KMIP specification can be found in the "KMIP Specification" document itself, at the URL noted on the cover page of this document. Similarly, insert in "KMIP Use Cases" as new Section 11 (immediately preceding appendix A): 11 Implementation Conformance This document is intended to be informational only and as such has no conformance clauses. The conformance requirements for the KMIP specification can be found in the "KMIP Specification" document itself, at the URL noted on the cover page of this document. The conformance requirements for the KMIP specification can be found in the specification itself at the URL noted on the cover page of this document. Or something similar. We can go with what you have for now if it would need another meeting for approval and chances are it will come back as a public review comment ;) Mary On Nov 19, 2009, at 11:47 AM, <robert.griffin@rsa.com> <robert.griffin@rsa.com> wrote: Hi Mary - In our KMIP TC meeting today, we agreed that we would like to have OASIS staff go ahead and make the corrections to "KMIP Profiles" and "KMIP Specification", as you offer in your email below. Regarding the missing conformance statement in "KMIP Use Cases" and "KMIP Usage Guide", we would like to point readers to the normative conformance statement in the "KMIP Specification". Please have the OASIS staff review this text and confirm that it is appropriate to addressing this issue? Insert in "KMIP Usage Guide" as new Section 5 (immediately preceding appendix A): 5 Implementation Conformance An implementation is a conforming KMIP Server if the implementation meets the conditions in Section 12.1 of the KMIP Specification. An implementation SHALL be a conforming KMIP Server. Similarly, insert in "KMIP Use Cases" as new Section 11 (immediately preceding appendix A): 11 Implementation Conformance An implementation is a conforming KMIP Server if the implementation meets the conditions in Section 12.1 of the KMIP Specification. An implementation SHALL be a conforming KMIP Server. Thanks very much!
