KMIP V1.1 items for today's KMIP TC call

Hi –

 

Once the V1.1 public review ends next week, OASIS admin will be able to start the member ballot to approve the Spec and Profiles as OASIS standards. In today’s KMIP TC call, we’ll discuss whether to start the ballot immediately or defer the start until after the turn of the year.

 

For the ballot, Chet has requested a short description of V1.1 to include in the ballot. Here’s a first cut (also for discussion in today’s call):

 

 

KMIP V1.1 significantly strengthens the KMIP standard by improving interoperability across KMIP implementations. It does this through a number of changes to the protocol, such as in version discovery and vendor extension management. KMIP V1.1 also clarifies and extends KMIP profiles to better support conformance demonstration by KMIP client and server implementations.   These and other enhancements in KMIP V1.1 represent tangible progress in achieving a single comprehensive protocol for communication between key management systems and a broad range of cryptographic applications.
