Subject: RE: [kmip] Groups - Name attribute modification to allow non-unique names uploaded

Bob,

Michael Stevens came up with a scenario related to Templates that we need to address with this proposal. In Michael’s own words:

“One point, however, that should be raised during the meeting is the problems presented for this new proposal to make non-unique names by template-attributes (KMIP spec, section 2.1.8).”

”A template-attribute, rather than containing a full template, is currently defined as containing several template Names. The proposal needs to define the appropriate interpretation if the template-attribute contains a non-unique template Name.”

”Sample test case:
1) Register a template: {Name = 'testTemplate', Cryptographic Algorithm = AES, Cryptographic Length = 128}
2) Register a template: {Name = 'testTemplate', Cryptographic Algorithm = 3DES, Cryptographic Length = 112}
3) Create a key using the template Name 'testTemplate’”

”What is the cryptographic algorithm of the new key?”
Have you considered this?
