Members of the KMIP Technical Committee,
As I'm sure you have seen, the ballot to approve KMIP Specification V1.3 as an OASIS Standard has passed. TC Admin will now publish the OASIS Standard edition and notify everyone when it is ready. A TC Admin JIRA ticket has been submitted to track this work.
KMIP Profiles V1.3 also received sufficient affirmative votes to pass. However, it received 2 negative votes. Per the TC Process section 3.4.3 Initial Balloting for OASIS Standard approval (
https://www.oasis-open.org/policies-guidelines/tc-process#OASISstandard), the ballot has not failed to pass. However, the TC must choose one of 3 actions (to be passed by Special Majority Vote run by me):
(a) request that TC Administration approve the specification as submitted despite the negative votes;
(b) withdraw the submission entirely; or
(c) prepare an amended Candidate OASIS Standard to address the issues leading to the negative votes. This amended specification will be submitted to the membership for an OS vote. This process is explained in section 3.4.4.
The TC must take action within 30 days. If no action is taken, the specification will not become an OASIS Standard. Note that you need not complete all the actions within the 30 days. I simply need to know that the TC is working on its resolution.
