Thanks -- relevant to the TC teleconference going on right now, there's a conversation about how late the TC may be, in its adoption of the "local rules" (last year called the "KMIP TC Interop Policy v1.4a").

There has been a suggestion that it's now too late this year for the TC to wait any longer on adopting those local rules for the 2018 event.

That has been been offered as a reason whether TC should act today, based on the draft letter offered by Tony Cox yesterday, and not wait for a response from OASIS staff by next week.

We respectfully disagree. As to whether you are in fact "out of runway," I haven't had time to do the research going back years, but we did note the following informally, with apologies that it was rushed:

2017: RSA 13 February

Local rules adopted (v1.4a): 27 October 2016 ... but there is an earlier reference dated 13 October so let's use that.

13 October 2016 is 124 days before 13 February 2017, per timeanddate.com.

2018: RSA 16 April

124 days before 16 April 2018 is 14 December 2017, per timeanddate.com.

I will elaborate on this, if recognized to speak by the chair on this topic during today's meeting.

OASIS advises against action by the TC today as we've not been give a chance to discuss this with the TC at all.

   Good morning. We've noted the letter uploaded by Cryptsoft to the TC this morning (US time), asking the TC to take the position (approximately) today that the TC should reject or convert its next interop event because Cryptsoft does not agree with us on a specific rule dispute.

I doubt whether OASIS will be able to provide any further effective data to the TC in writing within the few hours of this artificially-moved deadline, but we will attend today's meeting in any case to discuss the matter.
    OASIS has no stake in these outcomes, as each TC can and should choose the types of events it wishes to run, within the bounds of our rules. However, we caution you that:
it would be prudent and more consistent with open standards methods and transparency to hear both sides before being stampeded into a decision,
you have plenty of time to do so, and
we respectfully disagree with some of the statements in today's letter.
