One item we need to address is requesting affiliation with the LegalXML Member Section. The intention to request affiliation with the Member Section is included in the original charter.
The LegalXML Member Section is one of the longest standing MSs at OASIS. It is an umbrella group that represents the interests of its TCs and supports the publicizing and adoption of their work. You can find information about the LegalXML MS at
http://www.legalxml.org/.
In order to request affiliation with the Member Section, the TC needs to approve requesting affiliation via a Special Majority Vote (SMV). An SMV is run by the TC Administrator. In order to pass, 2/3 of the voting members of the TC must vote yes and no more than 1/4 can vote no. The chairs then forward the TC's request to the Member Section and they vote to approve the affiliation.
By this email, I move that the chairs of the LegalCiteM TC request that TC Administration carry out a Special Majority Vote on approving a request by the TC to affiliate with the LegalXML Member Section.
To proceed by email, someone needs to second this motion. John or Fabio can then ask for discussion and, if there is none, call for the vote. All voting members of the TC can send their yes or no votes to the TC mailing list.
If this motion is approved, I will then set up a Special Majority Vote to request affiliation.
