Nomination recommendation period begins for OASIS LegalXML Member Section Steering Committee

OASIS members:

Two seats serving one-year terms on the OASIS LegalXML Member Section (MS)
Steering Committee [1] are open for nomination recommendations.

The OASIS LegalXML Member Section produces technical specifications that
support implementation of XML technology in the legal system for use by all
who have a stake in electronic legal documents, records, and information
exchanges. The LegalXML Member Section engages legal document creators,
vendors, academics, and users in a legal community in defining requirements,
drafting and reviewing the specifications. If you aren't currently active in
the LegalXML Member Section, now is a great time to join.

The nomination and election procedures for the Steering Committee are
defined by the OASIS Member Section Policy [2] and the LegalXML
Member Section Rules of Procedure [3]. 

Any LegalXML MS participant [4] may nominate or be nominated as a candidate
for the Steering Committee. Any OASIS member may join the LegalXML MS.

The "At Large" LegalXML Member Section Steering Committee member will be
nominated and elected by Member Section Qualified Electors. The LegalXML
Member Section Qualified Electors are those Eligible Persons who are either
an Individual Member Section Supporting Entity or an employee or designee of
an organizational Member Section Supporting Entity, who subscribes to the
Member Section email list. An organizational Member Section Supporting
Entity may have more than one Qualified Elector. Please contact

affiliation with the LegalXML MS.


NOMINATION & ELECTION SCHEDULE 
Nominations will be held 9-July-2012 through 30-August-2012
The election will be held 31-August-2012 through 14-September-2012. 

NOMINATION PROCESS 
Any LegalXML MS participant may nominate a candidate via email to:

nominations@oasis-open.org. 

Prior to being confirmed as a candidate, each nominee must: 
1. Accept the nomination;

2. Confirm his/her ability to meet the time commitments of the position
(participation in a one-hour teleconference each month, promote the work of
the Member Section, participate in the growth of the LegalXML Member
Section, etc).

3. Provide background information and a position statement describing
his/her qualifications and motivations for serving on the Steering
Committee; and

4. Be a participant in the LegalXML Member Section. 

We encourage all LegalXML participants to consider serving
on the Steering Committee. Please contact (member-services@oasis-open.org)
