Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] (LEGALRULEML-19) Allow the same leaf edges in the normal serialization as in the compact

    [ https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/LEGALRULEML-19?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=61114#comment-61114 ]

Tara Athan commented on LEGALRULEML-19:
---------------------------------------

The scope of this issue is modified by Issue #20. The affected edges are:

hasStrength
   content model: StrictStrenth|DefeasibleStrength|Defeater
appliesStrength
   content model: StrictStrenth|DefeasibleStrength|Defeater
hasTemplate (within FactualStatement only)
content model: any formula, e.g. Atom, Equal, And, ...
hasQualification
content model: any formula, e.g. Override

This are the edges that
a) are skippable in branch form because the edge can be reconstructed based on the type of the Node element
b) need a leaf form because there is not a unique type of Node child element, and in the case when the type should not be specified, the leaf form is needed.

> To minimize the amount of change in transforming from compact to normalized serialization, it would be better to allow leaf edge form in the normalized serialization for every leaf edge form in the compact serialization. This would also reduce the number of elements, as it allows generic nodes such as <Actor> to be eliminated entirely from the schema.
