Subject: [legalxml-enotary] PRIA DTD for Notarization of Property Transactions

The Property Records Industry Association (formerly the Property Records Industry Joint Task Force) (PRIA)is working closely with the work very closely with the Mortgage Bankers' Mortgage Industry Standards Maintenance Organization (MISMO)to develop standards for qualifying, closing, recording, monitoring, and releasing mortgages in electronic format. PRIA has developed a data dictionary and DTD for eRecording of mortgages. We have been requested to provide comments principally on the notarization portion, but we are free to provide suggestions on other portion which may be of interest to anyone in the group. There is a copyright license which should be reviewed carefully by each individual prior to proceeding to review the documents or make use of them.

If anyone is interested in being the "point person" for this review, please let me know either by list posting or private email.

Please note that the DTD does not provide for authentication or any of the self-proving matters which is the focus of our Charter. It is primarily a listing of the elements that the PRIA feels is appropriate for notarization of property-related documents in a mortgage setting.

For those of you who are involved in the CourtDocument effort of the CourtFiling TC or the eContracts TC work, the DTD may have important horizontal features that may prove useful to those efforts as well.

To review the materials, please go to this download link:

Inasmuch as these documents are protected by IP and have been sent to this TC for comment, I would appreciate keeping them within the group that was intended to receive and make use of them, for the purposes for which they were provided.

Thank you and best regards.
