Subject: [legalxml-enotary] Proposal for agenda of next meeting of the TC

Pieter Kasselman, pkasselman@baltimore.com, wrote on 20 Dec 2002 at 16:08:19 -0000, after a series of emails with me acting in my capacity as Chair:

"It is proposed that the e-Notary TC identify various registration procedures and technical aspects within registration procedures. In addition the e-Notary TC can provide a rating system for the technical aspects and procedures. This rating system will allow a weight to be attached to a digital credential and allows a verifier to make a judgement on the quality of the digital credential. In addition a method for annotating this weighting to a document witnessed or signed with a given credential may be established."

I intend to make this the sole agenda item of our next meeting and put the question to a decision of the voting members of the TC present at the meeting whether to make this our immediate goal in terms of a first step in the realization of the Charter.

It might be useful to have some discussion before the meeting on the list to clarify the nature of the proposal and any issues that should be resolved. Please feel free to start one or more conversation threads.

The meeting will be held during the time period January 15-31, 2002. Certain members have already communicated to me their own preferences for a date and time. This TC is still small enough where I will try to take individual scheduling issues of all attendees into consideration in fixing a meeting date and time. I will not fix the meeting date and time until each of you has had an opportunity to communicate a preference for certain dates and times over others and an intention to participate in the meeting.. While I cannot guarantee to resolve all conflicts in schedules, I will make a good faith effort to do so.

Please RSVP with your preferences by December 29, 2002, after which I will set the meeting date and time without further delay.

Thank you.

May all of you spend a happy and safe holiday season.

Best regards,

John Messing
