Subject: [legalxml-ms] OASIS announcement of Online Dispute Resolutiondiscussion list

Upon the request by eligible participants I have created an OASIS
Discussion List whose purpose is to discuss the creation of an OASIS
Technical Committee. Discussion on the list will begin in seven days
to give everyone a chance to subscribe, and the list and its archive
will be deleted after 90 days. The list is

    legalxml-odr-discuss@lists.oasis-open.org

The proposal for the formation of the list is below.

In order to participate in the discussions on these topics you should
subscribe to the discussion list using the subscription form at
http://lists.oasis-open.org/ob/adm.pl or by sending a message to

    legalxml-odr-discuss-request@lists.oasis-open.org

with the word "subscribe" as the body of the message. OASIS membership
is not required in order to subscribe to this list. If you do not wish
to subscribe but wish to view the discussion you may view the list
archives at http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/

Online Dispute Resolution
--------------
(i) The requested name for the discussion list is "odrXML TC
formation"

(ii) The scope of this discussion list is to explore the formation of
an Online Dispute Resolution Technical Committee under the LegalXML
Member Section of OASIS, which would develop standard syntax for an
XML language for Online Dispute Resolution - odrXML. It is envisioned
that the standard would include a XSD used to validate the syntax of
XML documents used for transmission and that the standard would
enable information interchange between different ODR systems
supporting a core data model intended to provide a basic yet complete
description of a single case. The standard would provide for the
markup of final decisions, settlements or other final agreements as
well. This TC would build from relevant work done previously by the
Joint Research Centre Online Dispute Resolution Workgroup in
association with the European
Commission.

(iii) The persons eligible for OASIS Technical Committee Participation
making this request are:

Daniel J. Greenwood (dang@mit.edu) OASIS individual member
Eddie O'Brien (eddie@ringtailsolutions.com) OASIS individual member
James I. Keane (jik@jkeane.com) OASIS individual member

(iv) The discussion list leader will be Daniel J. Greenwood
