Call for Nominations for Three At-Large Members for the LegalXML Member
Section Steering Committee
The LegalXML Member Section Steering Committee is responsible for the
overall guidance of the technical committees affiliated with LegalXML and,
in its representative capacity, the Steering Committee reviews requests for
Member Section resources in support of the work of technical committees and
has the power to direct its Chair to recommend to the Executive Director of
OASIS that an expenditure be made from the discretionary funds allocated to
the Member Section. 
The members of the Steering Committee were originally carried over from the
Board of Directors of the original "LegalXML" organization. Presently, the
membership is being changed to reflect the makeup of the LegalXML technical
committees. Representatives to the Steering Committee are being elected by
their respective technical committees. In addition, the new Steering
Committee will be completed with the addition of three (3) at-large
representatives from among the LegalXML Member Section. 
Any member of the Member Section may serve in the role of At-Large Steering
Committee Member. Membership in the Member Section is defined as being a
member of one or more LegalXML technical committees and having
joined/renewed or notified OASIS of your intent to join the Member Section
and its funding. Please see the FAQ

specific responsibilities and restrictions of Member Section participation. 
This Notice is being sent to all members observers in the on the LegalXML
Member Section List. I urge you to review your status in the membership
roster. I have just completed a review and update of this information. If it
indicates member you are eligible to be nominated and vote in this election.
If it is observer, then you are not eligible. If you believe this status to
be in error or would like to take an action to change this please email me,
Don Bergeron, Chair of the Steering Committee, at
donald.bergeron@lexisnexis.com and we will work through the process. You
have until the end of the nomination period to change your membership
status.
Nominations for this role are hereby requested for the following four weeks
beginning on Friday, December 4th, 2003. Nominations, including
self-nominations, must be sent to Don Bergeron, Chair of the Steering
Committee, at donald.bergeron@lexisnexis.com no later than 5:00 p.m. Eastern
time on Friday, January 2nd, 2004. You will be asked for a short biography
and statement of interest to accompany the ballot. Elections will take place
over a subsequent two-week period ending on Friday, January 16th, 2004.
Again, all members in good standing of the LegalXML Member Section shall be
eligible to vote to fill these at-large positions.
