Subject: RE: [legalxml-transcripts] CONFIRMATION OF Meeting of theOASISLegalXML Transcript TC - 5:00 pm USA EST of Tuesday 15th October

SMIL is an XML W3c standard and been around for ages. I'm very familiar with it and used it previously. We debated its use with respect to realtime transcripts. Its been in rev 1.0 since 1998.

Hopefully if I can get past the meeting requirements of Oasis we can start some discussions again on the subject as part of the general focus of transcripts.

I've had graduate students in one of my classes a couple of years ago or so use Smile.  They used it to coordinate video and text, as I recall.  I seem to remember they said it was a bit primitive (then) but the right tool for the job.  And an open standard too, I think.

Cheers,

Just ran across a new full text voice retrieval product called Fast-Talk. It uses the Smile XML standard.  Any one heard of it. Do we have any provision for this in the current specification or draft standard. Hoping to involve Fast-Talk and some of its VARS.

PS. This stationary causes strange effects on my signature block. Had to erase it.
