SAML Team Elects New Chairs

Prateek Mishra of Netegrity and Rob Philpott of RSA have been named as
the new co-chairs for the OASIS Security Services Technical Committee.
Our thanks and congratulations go to former chairs, Jeff Hodges of Sun
Microsystems and Joe Pato of HP, for all their hard work in advancing
SAML 1.0 to OASIS Open Standard status.

The OASIS ebXML CPPA v2 Ratified as OASIS Open Standard

The OASIS membership has approved the ebXML Collaboration Protocol
Profile and Agreement v2 as an OASIS Open Standard, a status that
signifies the highest level of ratification. The OASIS ebXML CPPA
specification defines the interactions between two parties while
engaging in a specified electronic business collaboration.
Congratulations to all the members of the OASIS ebXML CPPA technical
committee.

OASIS XACML Spec Review Period to End

OASIS eXtensible Access Control Markup Language (XACML) Technical
Committee approved its XACML 1.0 document as a Committee Specification.
The TC began a 30-day public review period, which will conclude
8 December 2002, comments and feedback are requested.

'Web Services Security XCBF Token Profile' Document Submitted to the
OASIS WSS TC

This document, as edited by Phillip H. Griffin and Monica J. Martin,
describes the use of XML Common Biometric Format (XCBF) cryptographic
messages within the WS-Security specification.

OASIS Posts Best Practices for WSDL and UDDI

The OASIS UDDI Spec TC has published "Using WSDL in a UDDI Registry,
V1.08," a Best Practices guide for constructing UDDI entities from, or
relating to, WSDL descriptions of web services. This document clarifies
the relationship between UDDI and WSDL and describes how WSDL can be
used to help create UDDI business service descriptions.

8-13 Dec--Karl Best will present an OASIS Standards Update at XML 2002
in Baltimore, Maryland. Several member speakers are on the agenda.

10 Dec--OASIS members; Jouko Salonen, CEO Republica, and John Borras,
Office of the e-Envoy, are schedules to speak at the e-GIF and XML in
Government conference in Bristol, UK

10-11 Dec--Patrick Gannon will participate in a panel discussion at the
"Building a Web Services Foundation" Conference in San Francisco,
California.

11-12 Dec--Karl Best will participate in a Standards Process panel at
the Workshop on Open Trust Infrastructures in Washington DC,
