OASIS News 9 December 2002 Welcome to OASIS News, a weekly update of announcements, accomplishments and activities for the XML interoperability consortium. --------------------------------------------------------- OASIS Welcomes the Public Key Infrastructure Technical Committee A Call for Participation has been issued for the new OASIS Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) TC. The purpose of the PKI TC is to successfully deploy digital certificates that will deliver secured electronic messages and conduct secure electronic transactions that meet business and security requirements. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/members/200212/msg00001.html --------------------------------------------------------- OASIS Members Form e-Gov Technical Committee On 4 December 2002, OASIS announced the formation of the e-Gov TC that will bring together government representatives from around the world to support the modernization of government and assist in the electronic delivery of services to citizens and businesses through the coordination and adoption of XML standards. The purpose of this committee is to define a URI (Uniform Resource Identifiers aka URL) scheme and a corresponding URN (Uniform Resource Names) namespace that can be used to identify resources and share data across domains, enterprises, and applications in a distributed directory. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/members/200212/msg00002.html --------------------------------------------------------- Metadata Registries Forum Issues Final Call for Papers OASIS members are invited to participate in the Sixth International Open Forum on Metadata Registries, to be held 20-24 January in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA. This Open Forum is co-sponsored by ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 32, OASIS, OMG, DAMA-International, ECOS, the U. S. Federal CIO Council XML Working Group, ASTSWMO, the U. S.
