In Memory of Adrian Viego

OASIS member, Adrian Viego of Business Layers, died on Thursday,
27 November 2003, from a heart ailment. Regarded as one of the foremost
experts in the
provisioning market, Adrian served as Chief Technology Officer for
Business Layers and was a driving force in the creation of the SPML OASIS
Standard. Adrian's contributions to the consortium, both professional and
personal, will be deeply missed.

Three OASIS UBL Subcommittees Formed in Asia

The OASIS Universal Business Language TC has established Chinese,
Japanese, and Korean Localisation Subcommittees to translate UBL
specifications and documentation for Asian developers.

OASIS Prepares Standards Registry

Members of OASIS and representatives from other standards bodies are
asked to review and contribute content for the soon-to-be-launched OASIS
Standards Registry. This ebXML-compliant Registry gathers information
about technical standards work from OASIS and other organizations, as well
links to compliant products.
The Registry will be officially announced to the public later this
month.

Announcing the OASIS Symposium, 26-27 April, New Orleans

OASIS has announced the Call for Presentations for the OASIS Symposium on
Reliable Infrastructures for XML. The forum will provide opportunities for
OASIS members to exchange and coordinate work, promote interoperability and
identify new areas for development. TC meetings and the OASIS Annual General
Meeting will also be held in conjunction with the symposium, all members are
strongly urged to attend.

OASIS Team Talks

19-23 Jan--Karl Best will present "Implementing Vertical XML standards"
as well as participating in a panel discussion on "Web Services and XML
standards: Can we benefit while avoiding pitfalls?" at OOP 2004 in
Munich, Germany.

22-23 Jan--Pim van der Eijk will present "Web Services Standards for
Business and Enterprise Integration" at COMDEX Scandinavia in Göteborg,
Sweden.
