Hughes Leads OASIS Board of Directors


Jim Hughes of Hewlett-Packard was selected by his fellow directors to chair
the OASIS Board. Jim is Director of Software Standards in HP's Software
Global Business Unit, Technology Systems Group. He has served on the OASIS
Board since July 2001.

Balloting for Special Board of Directors Election Begins this Week

With Colin Evans of Intel having resigned his position on the OASIS Board of
Directors, a Special Election is being held to complete his term, which
expires in July 2006. Candidate nominations from OASIS members have ended as
of 21 Jan. Five candidates were nominated for the position. Balloting for
the Special Election will begin on 26 Jan, and continue until 11 Feb. Any
questions regarding the election should be directed to Scott McGrath
(scott.mcgrath@oasis-open.org).

OASIS Standard Balloting for UDDI and XACML Ends Soon



Balloting to approve UDDI v3 and XACML v2 as OASIS Standards ends on 31 Jan.
All organizational members of OASIS are encouraged to review these candidate
specifications and participate in the balloting process.

OASIS PKI Member Section Supports Fourth Annual PKI R&D Conference



The 4th annual PKI R&D Conference, held 19-21 Apr in Gaithersburg, MD, USA,
will be jointly sponsored by NIH, NIST and Internet2, in cooperation with
the OASIS PKI Member Section. The event will feature workshops that cover
the full range of public key technologies, as well as related
infrastructures used for security decisions. In particular, this year's
focus will be on emergent trust mechanisms and how they will interact with
each other at technical, policy and user levels.

OASIS Schedules TC Leadership Training in New Orleans



In conjunction with the OASIS Symposium in New Orleans, the Consortium will
conduct a training session and dialogue on how to effectively manage an
OASIS Committee. Staff will join new, existing, and prospective TC leaders
to discuss issues such as the TC Process, IPR Policy, Kavi, membership,
InterOp demonstrations, publicity, specification testing, and more. The
session will also address best practices for building consensus, promoting
adoption, coping with legal realities, and taking advantage of Consortium
resources. All TC chairs, secretaries, and editors are strongly advised to
attend this session, as well as anyone interested in leading a future OASIS

OASIS Federated Identity InterOp Demo to be held at RSA Conference, 16-17
February

OASIS, GSA E-Authentication Initiative, Enspier, and RSA Security will
co-sponsor the Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) v2.0 OASIS Standard
InterOp Demo at the RSA Conference on 16-17 February in San Francisco.
Computer Associates, DataPower, Enspier, Entrust, Hewlett Packard, NIPPON
Telegraph and Telephone (NTT), OpenNetworks, Oracle, RSA Security, Sun
Microsystems, Symlabs and Trustgenix will come together to demonstrate
secure exchange of authentication, attribute, and authorization information
between disparate security domains, which makes vendor-independent web
single sign-on and secure e-business transactions possible.
