Glushko Joins OASIS Board



Dr. Bob Glushko, of the University of California at Berkley, has been
elected to the OASIS Board of Directors. He will complete the term begun by
Colin Evans, which concludes in July 2006. OASIS congratulates Bob and
thanks the many fine candidates that participated in the election, as well
as the record number of OASIS members that voted.

OASIS Announces Programming for the XML Symposium



The program for the OASIS Symposium on the Future of XML Vocabularies is now
available online. This year's program includes four sessions, two panels,
and four pre-conference tutorials. The main sessions will focus on UBL,
Versioning and Development, Semantics and Ontologies, and Experiences, Case
Studies, and Verticals. The panels will bring together experts to discuss
"The Past as a Guide to the Future," and "Service Oriented Architecture
(SOA): A Users Perspective."  Pre-conference tutorials will provide
education on UBL Conformant Schema, Information Constraint Processing,
Document Engineering, and Web Services Modeling.

Danish Government Requires Public Sector to Use UBL



As of February 1, all invoicing in Denmark's public sector is legally
required to be implemented through Universal Business Language (UBL) v0.7.
The Danish Government estimates that it will save 94 million euro (177
million dollars) per year by standardizing UBL Invoices, and could save as
much as 160 million euros (199 million dollars) per year if they standardize
UBL Purchase Orders as well.

Create OASIS Committees in Order to Promote Standards



Organizations investing resources to create OASIS Standards may also
consider working to educate the marketplace on the importance of these
specifications. OASIS members may form Committees or Sub-Committees to
promote the adoption of standards. For more information on creating a
