OASIS NEWS 10 March 2005 Welcome to OASIS News, a weekly update of announcements, accomplishments,and activities for the international standards consortium. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Open Source Advocate, Mitch Kapor, Will Keynote at OASIS Symposium Mitchell Kapor, founder and President of the Open Source Applications Foundation, will deliver the keynote address at the OASIS Symposium, to be held Monday, 25 April, in New Orleans. Kapor is also the founder of the Lotus Development Corporation, co-founder of the Electronic Freedom Foundation and current director of both the Mitchell Kapor Foundation and the Level Playing Field Institute. http://www.oasis-open.org/events/symposium_2005/program.php --------------------------------------------------------------------- WSDM Approved as OASIS Standard Both the Web Services Distributed Management (WSDM) - Management Using Web Services (MUWS) and the WSDM - Management of Web Services (MOWS) specifications have been voted on and approved as OASIS Standards. The two WSDM specifications were developed by the OASIS WSDM TC and serve together to define a method for utilizing Web services to manage distributed resources. The TC members and co-chairs are to be congratulated on their work in developing these standards. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/members/200503/msg00003.html --------------------------------------------------------------------- SAML Approved as OASIS Standard The Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) v2.0, developed by the OASIS Security Services TC, has been approved as an OASIS Standard. SAML defines an XML-based framework for exchanging and managing security information online. Organizations that have already benefited from Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) will present case studies and share insight into the adaptation of SOA to other organizational structures.
