OASIS News 5 August 2005 Welcome to OASIS News, a weekly update of announcements, accomplishments, and activities for the international standards consortium. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Consortium Seats New OASIS Board and TAB Members Last week, the OASIS Board of Directors and Technical Advisory Board (TAB) officially began their 2005 terms, welcoming newly elected Board directors, John Jackson of General Motors, and Claus von Riegen of SAP, and re-elected directors, Eduardo Gutentag of Sun Microsystems, Chris Kurt of Microsoft, and Michael Winters of IBM. Board members selected Eduardo Gutentag to serve as chair. Martin Chapman of Oracle and Hal Lockhart of BEA Systems joined the TAB, along with re-elected members, Bill Cox, and Pete Wenzel of SeeBeyond. http://www.oasis-open.org/archives/members/200506/msg00001.html ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ OASIS UDDI Member Section Seeks Nominations for Steering Committee The OASIS UDDI Member Section is seeking Consortium members interested in providing leadership through its Steering Committee. The Member Section promotes the understanding and adoption of UDDI for Web services and SOA. Steering Committee members serve one-year terms, participating in monthly phone meetings and engaging in various activities in support of the UDDI OASIS Standard. Nominations close 30 August, and elections will be held 2-19 September. Three open seats are available; however, the Steering Committee may choose to expand its representation in response to member interest. Contact the OASIS UDDI Member Section Steering Committee chair, Ian Bruce (ian.bruce@systinet.com) for details. http://www.uddi.org/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Consortium Issues Call for Participation in New OASIS SOA Adoption Blueprints TC The week, OASIS announced the formation of the OASIS Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) Adoption Blueprints TC. The objective of the committee will be to develop, circulate, maintain and update a set of example business profiles or adoption blueprints to illustrate the practical deployment of services using SOA methods. The inaugural meeting will take place on 1 Sept. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/members/200508/msg00000.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OASIS to Provide Standards Track for BuilConn Europe OASIS will develop and host a standards track at the BuilConn Europe Conference to be held 8-10 Nov in Amsterdam. The one-day track will feature oBIX, as well as other standards for enabling technologies such as Web services. http://www.builconn.com/default.asp ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OASIS Announces Adoption Forum Program Committee The OASIS Adoption Forum is a one-day event providing a means for interested parties to convene and discuss advances in open standards. The 2005 Program Committee will include John Borras, CEO of the UK’s Local e-Government Standards Body, James Bryce Clark, Director of Standards Development at OASIS, Patrick J. Gannon, President and CEO of OASIS, Harm Jan van Burg, Netherlands Ministry of Finance, Pim van der Eijk, OASIS European Representative.
