OASIS News 15 May 2006 Welcome to OASIS News, a weekly update of announcements, accomplishments, and activities for the international standards consortium. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Public Reviews Begin for SAML Profiles and for ebXML Messaging v 3.0 OASIS Committees submitted ebXML and SAML-related specifications for public review this week. All interested parties are encouraged to provide comments. The Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) Profiles and Extensions define and maintain a standard, XML-based framework for creating and exchanging security information between online partners. Developed by the OASIS Security Services TC, the specification package includes the SAML Metadata Profile, SAML Attribute Sharing Profile for X.509 Authentication-Based Systems, SAML XPath Attribute Profile, SAML Metadata Extension for Query Requesters, and SAML Protocol Extension for Third-Party Requests. Comments on these documents must be received by 10 July. The ebXML Messaging Services v 3.0: Part 1, Core Features specification defines the transport, routing and packaging of e-business transactions. Its public review ends 11 July. Washington State was selected by the US Department of Homeland Security as the pilot state for this new system last year. CAP enables information exchange to advance incident preparedness and response to emergency situations.
