Improvement to OASIS Member mail list traffic

OASIS members:

As OASIS technical work continues to mature and increase in volume, the
amount of email notices sent to our members@lists.oasis-open.org mailing
list has grown. While many members find our current communications practices
useful, we appreciate that others would prefer to receive fewer email
messages, favoring a summary of multiple announcements in lieu of individual
notices.

To that end, OASIS is changing the way we keep our membership at-large
informed. 


TC Admin messages

Currently, TC Admin notices are posted individually to both our tc-announce@
and members@ mailing lists and summarized in our twice-monthly distribution
of OASIS News (which is itself sent to members@). Because the majority of TC
Admin notices (e.g., ballots and public review calls) are posted on the 1st
and 16th of the calendar month, we publish OASIS News on the 2nd and 17th
(or the nearest subsequent business day).

Beginning 1 Jan 2008, these types of TC Admin notices will be posted to
tc-announce@, copied to the appropriate TC mailing list, and summarized in
OASIS News; they will no longer be posted individually to members@. 

TC Admin notices that are not posted on a fixed schedule (e.g., charter
reviews, calls for participation in new TCs) will continue to be distributed
to members@ individually, so that members will stay informed in a timely
manner.
These notices will also be summarized in OASIS News.

If you would like to continue to receive *all* TC Admin notices as
individual emails, you may do so by subscribing to tc-announce@. To
subscribe, send an email to tc-announce-subscribe@lists.oasis-open.org.


Other messages

Other significant, time-sensitive information that affects the membership
at-large (e.g., Board and Steering Committee elections) will continue to be
posted to members@. Information that is less critical and/or time-sensitive
will be covered only in OASIS News.


We hope this new process will better satisfy the needs of all our members,
reducing email volume to most members, while still allowing others to
receive and track individual messages. Please contact me directly if you
