The Executive Director will represent OASIS in the international arena, serve as an advocate for open standards in matters of policy and adoption, and develop new opportunities to extend the breadth and depth of future OASIS work. OASIS Telecom will pave the way for exciting, new business models that make telecommunications services more intelligent, deployable, and easy to consume. Moderated by Claus von Riegen of SAP AG, the panel will feature representatives from OpenTravel Alliance, TM Forum, and the U.S. Veterans Health Administration. The event will be held in Santa Clara, California, 27 April - 1 May, and all are invited to register. http://events.oasis-open.org/home/symposium/2008/ ------------------------------------------------------------------- OGC and OASIS announce progress on standards cooperation The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and OASIS summarized results of their collaborative support for Web services, emergency management, e-business, and security standards. OGC actively participates in a wide range of OASIS technical committees, ensuring that the business requirements of the geospatial community are represented in the standards development process. Presentations were delivered by representatives of the OASIS Enterprise Key Management Infrastructure (EKMI), PKI Adoption (PKIA), Extensible Resource Identifier (XRI), Open Reputation Management Systems (ORMS), and eXtensible Access Control Mark-up Language (XACML) TCs. http://www.oasis-idtrust.org/node/55 ------------------------------------------------------------------- OASIS Standard vote on WSRP 2.0 opens Balloting for the Web Services for Remote Portlets (WSRP) version 2.0 specification is underway now and will remain open until 31 March. WSRP enables an application designer to select from a rich choice of compliant remote content and application providers and integrate them with just a few mouse clicks. WSRP 1.0 was approved as an OASIS Standard in August 2003. This revision adds consumer-managed coordination, additional lifecycle management, and a set of related aggregation enhancements. All organizational members of OASIS are encouraged to vote: those who wish to discuss this ballot may do so through member-discuss@lists.oasis-open.org. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/tc-announce/200803/msg00006.html ------------------------------------------------------------------- OASIS issues Call for Participation in new UOML-X TC All interested parties are invited to participate in the new OASIS Unstructured Operation Markup Language eXtended (UOML-X) Technical Committee. This group will advance the existing OASIS UOML TC's goal of developing and maintaining an XML-based operation interface standard for unstructured documents. The UOML-X TC will operate under the RF on RAND Mode under the OASIS IPR Policy. A TC chair or two co-chairs will be elected at the first meeting, which will be held by teleconference on 23 April. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/tc-announce/200803/msg00007.html ------------------------------------------------------------------- Second public review begins for XRI Resolution 2.0 The OASIS eXtensible Resource Identifier (XRI) TC has submitted its XRI Resolution 2.0 Committee Draft for a second public review. XRI Resolution defines a simple, generic format for resource description (XRDS documents), a protocol for obtaining XRDS documents from HTTP(S) URIs, and generic and trusted protocols for resolving XRIs using XRDS documents and HTTP(S) URIs. The review ends 26 March. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/tc-announce/200803/msg00004.html ------------------------------------------------------------------- Second public review begins for EDXL HAVE 1.0 The OASIS Emergency Management TC has submitted version 1.0 of its Emergency Data Exchange Language (EDXL) Hospital AVailability Exchange (HAVE) Committee Draft for a second public review. EDXL-HAVE specifies an XML document format that allows the communication of the status of a hospital, its services, and its resources, including bed capacity and availability, emergency room status, and available service coverage. The review ends 1 April. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/tc-announce/200803/msg00008.html ------------------------------------------------------------------- UOML Part 1 public review begins The OASIS Unstructured Operation Markup Language (UOML) TC has approved UOML Part 1 version 1.0 as a Committee Draft and submitted it for public review. The specification defines a markup language for unstructured document operation, including the definitions of abstract document model and document operating instructions to the abstract document model. The review ends 5 May. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/tc-announce/200803/msg00003.html ------------------------------------------------------------------- Three WS-RX specifications begin public review The OASIS Web Services Reliable Exchange (WS-RX) TC has approved WS-ReliableMessaging 1.2, WS-MakeConnection 1.1, and WS-RM Policy 1.2 as Committee Drafts and submitted them as a package for public review. The specifications define reliable message exchange using Web services.
