OASIS Standard vote opens soon for WS-RX, WS-TX, and WS-SX specs 

Balloting for nine specifications will be held 16-31 Jan:

Web Services ReliableMessaging 1.2, Web Services ReliableMessaging Policy 1.2, and Web Services MakeConnection 1.1 were developed by the Web Services Reliable Exchange (WS-RX) TC, which includes representatives of OASIS Foundational Sponsors, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, and Sun Microsystems, and Sponsors, Adobe, Fujitsu, Hitachi, Intel, NEC, Nortel, Novell, Progress Software, Red Hat, SAP, TIBCO, and others. 

WS-Coordination 1.2, WS-AtomicTransaction 1.2, and WS-BusinessActivity 1.2 were developed by the Web Services Transactions (WS-TX) TC, which includes representatives of OASIS Foundational Sponsors, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, and Sun Microsystems, and Sponsors, Adobe, Fujitsu, Hitachi, Nortel, Red Hat, Ricoh, TIBCO, and others. 

WS-Trust 1.4, WS-SecureConversation 1.4, and WS-SecurityPolicy 1.3 were developed by the Web Services Secure Exchange (WS-SX) TC, which includes representatives of OASIS Foundational Sponsors, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, and Sun Microsystems, and Sponsors, Adobe, Axway, BMC, CA, Fujitsu, NeuStar, Nokia, Nortel, Novell, Red Hat, Ricoh, SAP, SOA Software, Software AG, TIBCO, VeriSign, US Veterans Health Administration, and others. 

All organizational members of OASIS are encouraged to vote on these specifications; those who wish to discuss the ballots may do so through member-discuss@lists.oasis-open.org.

Members propose Interoperable Collaboration TC 

All interested parties are asked to review and comment on a draft charter to establish the OASIS Integrated Collaboration Object Model for Interoperable Collaboration (ICOM) Technical Committee. ICOM will work to define a new
protocol for shared workspaces that supports a full range of collaboration activities, including unified messages, web conferences, forums, presence, calendars, tasks, wikis, blogs, and social networks. ICOM TC proposers include representatives of Oracle, Nortel, and others; Martin Chapman of Oracle serves as convener. The comment period for this draft charter closes 19 Jan.

SAML 2.0 HTTP POST "SimpleSign" Binding 1.0 public review begins

This specification defines an HTTP protocol binding for the Security Assertion Markup Language, using the HTTP POST method for message data origination authentication. This public review ends 9 Jan.

New survey seeks feedback on Cover Pages and XML Daily Newslink

Readers of the Cover Pages and/or XML Daily Newslink are asked to complete a brief online survey about their experiences, usage, and opinions regarding the web site and newsletter. Responses will be used to assist OASIS staff in making decisions about enhancing these resources.

"Ask The TAB" addresses standardization questions

The OASIS Technical Advisory Board announces "Ask The TAB", a new way to get answers to technical or standardization questions about OASIS TCs and work. "Ask The TAB" is intended to address questions on how to structure specifications, clarify charters, and other issues related to the technical work of a TC. Correspondence will not be publicly archived; however, the TAB may edit and publish common issues in an anonymous FAQ format. Questions should be emailed to AskTheTAB@lists.oasis-open.org.

Dr. Saadallah donates 'oasisopen.org' domain to OASIS

Dr. David Saadallah of the ElAbbasia Mental Health Hospital in Cairo, Egypt has donated the domain, 'oasisopen.org', to OASIS. Dr Saadallah wishes to contribute to the progress of standards internationally. His generous contribution makes a difference for OASIS and testifies to the goodwill that successful standards generate worldwide.
