Schulz of Ars Aperta, and Claus von Riegen of SAP are running for five seats on the OASIS Board of Directors. Candidates for the Technical Advisory Board include Martin Chapman of Oracle, William Cox, and Patrick Durusau. Both ballots close 23 June. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/members/200905/msg00004.html ------------------------------------------------------------------- Energy Interoperation TC forms All interested parties are invited to participate in the new OASIS Energy Interoperation Technical Committee. This group will work to enable the collaborative and transactive use of energy. It will define the interaction of Smart Grids with their end nodes: smart buildings and facilities; enterprises; industry; homes; and vehicles. The Energy Interoperation TC will operate under the Royalty Free on Limited Terms mode of the OASIS IPR Policy. TC proposers include representatives of Cisco, the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), TIBCO, and others. Mary Ann Piette of Lawrence Berkeley National Labs is the convener; a TC chair or two co-chairs will be elected at the first meeting, which will be held by teleconference on 22 June. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/tc-announce/200905/msg00004.html ------------------------------------------------------------------- Liscia blogs on SmartGrid and the value of membership The executive director of OASIS, Laurent Liscia, has posted two new blogs. The first observes parallels between the SmartGrid and the evolution of the Internet. The second recognizes member loyalty and provides an overview of the consortium's plans for the coming year. http://blogs.oasis-open.org/lliscia ------------------------------------------------------------------- OASIS Blue Connect event explores standards for the Smart Grid OASIS will host two tracks as part of ConnectivityWeek in Santa Clara, California on 9 and 11 June. The tracks will examine the role open standards play in realizing the goals of smart energy grids and intelligent buildings. Sessions will explore the ways existing standards for eCommerce, security, emergency management, building automation, and Web services can be applied to the Smart Grid. Mary Ellen Callahan, the new Chief Privacy Officer at the US Department of Homeland Security, and Kim Cameron, author of the 'Seven Laws of Identity', will present. OASIS members receive a 350 Euro discount off standard rate (enter code EID09OAS when registering). www.eema.org/eema2009 ------------------------------------------------------------------- OASIS, WMO, ITU announce Geneva workshop on CAP Identifiers OASIS is joining with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to hold a workshop on best practices for message identifiers when implementing the Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) OASIS Standard (ITU Recommendation X.1303).
