Welcome to OASIS News, a bi-weekly update of announcements, accomplishments, and activities for the international open standards consortium. ------------------------------------------------------------------- In this issue: * OASIS names Scott McGrath as Chief Operating Officer * Quantities and Units of Measure Ontology Standard (QUOMOS) TC forms * BPEL4People 1.1 and WS-Human Task 1.1 public review begins * Important dates ------------------------------------------------------------------- OASIS names Scott McGrath as Chief Operating Officer The new position incorporates Scott's continuing duties as Senior Director of Member Services and recognizes the strategic role he plays in meeting the consortium's financial and operational objectives. http://www.oasis-open.org/who/staff.php#mcgrath ------------------------------------------------------------------- Quantities and Units of Measure Ontology Standard (QUOMOS) TC forms All interested parties are invited to participate in the new OASIS QUOMOS Technical Committee. This group will work to define a core set of ontology modules covering quantities, units, scales, dimensions, base and derived SI units and their relationships, and extension mechanisms to allow the later inclusion of non-SI units and other measurement systems. The QUOMOS TC will operate under the Non-Assertion mode of the OASIS IPR Policy. TC proposers include representatives of the U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and others. Howard Mason of BAE Systems serves as convener; a TC chair or two co-chairs will be elected at the first meeting, which will be held by teleconference on 21 Jan. WS-HumanTask introduces a coordination protocol to control autonomy and life cycle of service-enabled human tasks in an interoperable manner.
