The upgrade provides many new features for members including an easier-to-use navigation, updated tools, and customized communications--all on a more stable, secure, and reliable platform. Many thanks to Greg Carpenter, Jose Marquez, Scott McGrath, Neil Schelly, and the entire project team. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/members/201109/msg00009.html ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OpenDocument 1.2 becomes OASIS Standard Members have approved the Open Document Format for Office Applications version 1.2 as an OASIS Standard. ODF defines an application- and platform-independent file format for text documents, spreadsheets, presentation graphics, drawings, charts, and similar documents. The new version of ODF delivers many enhancements called for by the international community including support for digital signatures, semantic web technology, and the OpenFormula spreadsheet language. Congratulations to the OpenDocument TC chair, Rob Weir of IBM, and to all TC participants including representatives of Boeing, Fedict, IBM, Microsoft, Nokia, Novell, Oracle, Red Hat, U.S. Department of Defense, and others for this accomplishment. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/tc-announce/201109/msg00010.html ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Energy Market Information Exchange (EMIX) 1.0 public review begins EMIX defines an information model for the interoperable and standard exchange of prices and product definitions in transactive energy markets. This specification is one of three Smart Grid related OASIS works in progress. The EMIX public review ends 19 Oct. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/tc-announce/201110/msg00003.html ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Public review begins for three Electronic Court Filing (ECF) specs ECF promotes interoperability among electronic court filing vendors and systems. Version 4.01 is a maintenance release that addresses minor schema and definition issues. ECF 4.0 Web Services Service Interaction Profile 2.01 is used to transmit ECF 4.0 messages between Internet-connected systems. ECF 4.0 Portable Media Service Interaction Profile 2.0 is used for storing message transmissions to portable media in the absence of an active network. It also specifies two different mechanisms for communicating this information between servers via a standard Web browser. This public review ends 18 Oct. SAML 2.0 Metadata Extensions for Registration and Publication Information 1.0 defines a set of extensions to SAML metadata that provide information about the creation and intended usage of the metadata document and about who and how particular entities were registered. The public review of these documents ends 2 Nov. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/tc-announce/201109/msg00011.html ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Public review begins for two Transformational Government Framework specs The Transformational Government Framework (TGF) is a managed process of ICT-enabled change in the public sector, which puts the needs of citizens and businesses at the heart of that process and which achieves significant and transformational impacts on the efficiency and effectiveness of government. The TGF Primer 1.0 serves as an introduction to the Framework. Its public review ends 28 Oct. The TGF Pattern Language Core Patterns 1.0 provides a formalization of the Framework that is both human-readable and machine-tractable. BIAS is intended to provide a common, yet flexible, Web services interface that can be used within both closed and open SOA systems. This public review ends 12 Oct. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/tc-announce/201109/msg00006.html ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- European Commission Representatives Join Cloud Discussion at ICS Megan Richards, Director of Converged Networks and Services, INFSO, and Luis Busquets Pérez, SIENA EC Project Officer, join the discussion at next week’s International Cloud Symposium in Heathrow, UK. With responses to the need for policy and standards in the Cloud being driven primarily on a national level, ICS breaks through the barriers and broadens the dialogue. Presentations at the event will include input from key players within Europe, U.S., Canada, China, Japan, and India.
