OASIS upgrades TC collaboration tools

The conversion to the new members-only website and TC collaboration
tool set is complete. The upgrade provides many new features for
members including an easier-to-use navigation, updated tools, and
customized communications--all on a more stable, secure, and reliable
platform. Many thanks to Greg Carpenter, Jose Marquez, Scott McGrath,
Neil Schelly, and the entire project team.

OpenDocument 1.2 becomes OASIS Standard

Members have approved the Open Document Format for Office Applications
version 1.2 as an OASIS Standard. ODF defines an application- and
platform-independent file format for text documents, spreadsheets,
presentation graphics, drawings, charts, and similar documents. The
new version of ODF delivers many enhancements called for by the
international community including support for digital signatures,
semantic web technology, and the OpenFormula spreadsheet language.
Congratulations to the OpenDocument TC chair, Rob Weir of IBM, and to
all TC participants including representatives of Boeing, Fedict, IBM,
Microsoft, Nokia, Novell, Oracle, Red Hat, U.S. Department of Defense,
and others for this accomplishment.

Public review begins for three Electronic Court Filing (ECF) specs

ECF promotes interoperability among electronic court filing vendors
and systems. Version 4.01 is a maintenance release that addresses
minor schema and definition issues. ECF 4.0 Web Services Service
Interaction Profile 2.01 is used to transmit ECF 4.0 messages between
Internet-connected systems. ECF 4.0 Portable Media Service Interaction
Profile 2.0 is used for storing message transmissions to portable
media in the absence of an active network. The public review for all
three specifications ends 18 Oct.

achieves significant and transformational impacts on the efficiency
and effectiveness of government. The TGF Primer 1.0 serves as an
introduction to the Framework. Its public review ends 28 Oct. The TGF

European Commission Representatives Join Cloud Discussion at ICS

Megan Richards, Director of Converged Networks and Services, INFSO,
and Luis Busquets Pérez, SIENA EC Project Officer, join the discussion
at next week’s International Cloud Symposium in Heathrow, UK. With
responses to the need for policy and standards in the Cloud being
driven primarily on a national level, ICS breaks through the barriers
and broadens the dialogue. Presentations at the event will include
input from key players within Europe, U.S., Canada, China, Japan, and
India. Online registration will be open until 7 Oct.
