Elections for Board of Directors and TAB begin

OASIS member organizations will elect six Board Directors from the following ten candidates: Carl Cargill of Adobe; Tony Giroti; Frederick Hirsch of Nokia; Jim Hughes of Microsoft; Gershon Janssen; Dawn Jutla of St. Mary's University; Paul Lipton of CA Technologies; Jeff Mischkinsky of Oracle; Jun Qian of Primeton; and Zhexuan Song of Huawei. Candidates have provided bios and answered a series of questions submitted by members. All Foundational, Sponsor, and Contributor members are strongly encouraged to review this information and participate in the election process. The ballot closes on 15 Jun.

OASIS Standard vote opens for BIAS SOAP Profile 1.0

Balloting for the Biometric Identity Assurance Services (BIAS) SOAP Profile 1.0 is now underway and will close 24 May. The Profile specifies how to use XML-encoded SOAP messages to exchange biometric data and perform biometric-based identity operations. It was developed by representatives of OASIS Sponsors,  Booz Allen Hamilton, US National Institutes of Health, US NIST, US Department of Defense (DoD), and others. All organizational members of OASIS are encouraged to vote on the BIAS SOAP Profile; those who wish to discuss the ballot may do so through oasis-member-discuss@lists.oasis-open.org.

OASIS Standard vote opens for WS-Security 1.1.1

Balloting for Web Services Security 1.1.1 is now underway and will close 18 May. This specification set integrates specific error corrections and editorial changes to WS-Security 1.1 and its token profiles. It was developed by representatives of OASIS Foundational Sponsors, IBM and Microsoft, and Sponsors, Fujitsu, Oracle, Red Hat, SAP, TIBCO, US Department of Defense, and others. All organizational members of OASIS are encouraged to vote on WS-Security 1.1.1; those who wish to discuss the ballot may do so through oasis-member-discuss@lists.oasis-open.org.

Emergency Management TC approves Committee Specification

The Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) 1.2 Australia Profile 1.0 describes an interpretation of CAP 1.2 necessary to meet the needs of the Australian Government. Congratulations to TC Sponsors,  AtHoc, Avaya, Desktop Alert, Environment Canada, US National Institutes of Health, and US Department of Defense, and to all other Emergency Management TC members. Search Web Services TC approves Committee Specification

The searchRetrieve 1.0 document set is part of a generic protocol defining the interaction required between a client and server for performing searches. Congratulations to all members of the Search Web Services TC on reaching this milestone.

IDCloud TC approves Use Cases as Committee Note

This set of representative use cases examines the requirements on identity management functions as they are applied to cloud-based interactions using commonly defined cloud deployment and service models. The use cases will be used for further analysis to determine if functional gaps exist and if additional open standards are needed. ICOM 1.0 public review begins

The framework aims to lower the barrier for independent software vendors and open source communities to integrate collaboration services and to create collaboration tools that offer seamless user experience for diverse collaboration activities with minimal context switching. This public review ends 29 May.

OASIS participates in Cloud Expo East

On 14 June in New York, Laurent Liscia and members of the TOSCA TC will present a session on TOSCA as an emerging cloud portability standard. Chet Ensign will represent OASIS on the Industry Standards Development panel during ODCA’s Forecast pre-conference workshop.

European e-Identity Management Conference features OASIS track

OASIS will organize an interactive open standards track as part of EEMA's annual e-Identity Management Conference in Paris on 13 June. Representatives from the IDtrust Member Section and related security TCs will lead discussions on provisioning, federated single sign-on, orchestration, service measurement, attribute sharing, and privacy.   OASIS members may receive a €350 discount by using registration code: EID12OP2.

OASIS WS-I holds elections for Steering Committee

Nominations are now open for four seats on the WS-I Member Section Steering Committee. WS-I advances Best Practices for selected groups of standards, across platforms, operating systems, and programming languages. All WS-I Member Section participants are invited to nominate qualified candidates and/or consider serving. The deadline to nominate candidates is 30 May; the elections will be held 31 May - 14 Jun.

US NIST SGIP includes OASIS Energy Interoperability in Catalog

The US National Institute of Standards and Technology's Smart Grid Interoperability Panel (SGIP) approved inclusion of the OASIS Energy Interoperation specification into its Catalog of Standards (CoS). Energy Interoperation describes information and communication models that enable collaborative and transactive use of energy consistent with the OASIS SOA Reference Model (SOA-RM) and vocabularies for the exchange of dynamic price signals, emergency signals, load predictability and generation information. Congratulations to the members of the OASIS Energy Interoperation TC for this milestone.
