At the annual meeting in July, the OASIS Board welcomed newly elected director, Martin Chapman (Oracle) and reelected directors, Peter Brown, Mike DeNicola (Fujitsu), Dave Ings (IBM), and Sanjay Patil (SAP). Jim Hughes (Microsoft) was chosen as Board Chair, Frederick Hirsch (Nokia) as Vice Chair, Mike DeNicola (Fujitsu) as Treasurer, and Gershon Janssen as Secretary. The Technical Advisory Board (TAB) seated newly elected member, Ashok Malhotra (Oracle) and relected member, Patrick Durusau. Jacques Durand (Fujitsu) was selected to chair the TAB.
Thanks to all these members--and to departing Board member, Abbie Barbir (Bank of America)--for their outstanding leadership.

Universal Business Language (UBL) 2.1 defines a generic XML interchange format for business documents that can be restricted or extended to meet the requirements of particular industries. This version includes 65 business documents used in the procurement and transportation domains. Congratulations to UBL TC chairs, Tim McGrath of Document Engineering Services and Jon Bosak, and to all TC members for accomplishing this milestone.

Open Building Information Exchange (oBIX) 1.1 provides the core information model and interactions for interactions with building control systems. Four oBIX specifications have been submitted for public review: oBIX 1.1, encodings for oBIX, REST bindings for oBIX, and SOAP bindings for oBIX. This public review ends 28 Aug.

Emergency Data Exchange Language (EDXL) Distribution Element (DE) 2.0 describes a standard message distribution format for data sharing among emergency information systems. The DE 2.0 allows an organization to wrap separate yet related pieces of emergency information into a single package and address the package to organizations or individuals with specified roles. This public review ends 6 Aug.
