KMIP recharters for encryption in the Cloud


The Key Management Interoperability Protocol (KMIP) TC is expanding its scope to better address the management of encryption keys within Cloud environments. The TC will hold its first meeting under the new charter on 10 Oct.  New participants are welcome.

OData approves Committee Specs


The Open Data Protocol (OData) simplifies the querying and sharing of data across disparate applications and multiple stakeholders for re-use in the enterprise, Cloud, and mobile devices. OData 4.0, OData 4.0 JSON Format, and OData 4.0 ATOM Format have been approved as Committee Specifications, and a supporting document, What's New in OData v4, is a new Committee Note. A public review is underway for OData Extension for Data Aggregation; it ends 19 Sept.

IDCloud publishes Identity Management and Authentication Profiles


Identity in the Cloud Outsourcing Profile describes the various identity management use cases, challenges and applicable standards in the Identity Management Outsourcing in the Cloud Computing model. Mobile Cloud Identity Profile describes the consumers’ mobile device authentication as an additional strong authentication use case in the Cloud-As-A-Service (*aaS) model.

The Open Document Format for Office Applications (ODF) 1.2 was approved as an OASIS Standard in 2011. Members are invited to comment on the proposed terms of submission by 16 Oct.

Security TC approves SAML Enhanced Client Profile


The Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) 2.0 Enhanced Client or Proxy profile is a SSO profile for use with HTTP, and clients with the capability to directly contact a principal's identity provider(s) without requiring discovery and redirection by the service provider, as in the case of a browser.
