Jim Hughes, Chair of OASIS Board of Directors, resigns

Retiring from Microsoft, Jim Hughes resigned his seat on the OASIS Board of Directors. Providing consortium leadership nearly continuously since 2001, Jim's dedication to the mission of OASIS and his professional judgement have been a critical part of our success and evolution. We express our deepest gratitude for his many accomplishments on our behalf.

A Special Election will be held to fill Jim's vacant Board seat; details will be announced soon.

VIRTIO TC publishes Committee Specification

Virtual I/O Device (VIRTIO) 1.0 aims to simplify virtual devices, making them more extensible and recognizable. Congratulations to TC chairs, Rusty Russell of IBM and Michael Tsirkin of Red Hat, to representatives of Foundational Sponsor, IBM, and Sponsors, M2MI, NetApp, Oracle, Red Hat, Thales e-Security, and to all TC participants for accomplishing this milestone.

PKCS 11 TC approves five documents


Four new Committee Specifications and one Committee Note advance the PKCS #11 cryptographic tokens standard for mobile and cloud computing use cases. Congratulations to TC chairs, Robert Griffin of EMC and Valerie Fenwick of Oracle, to representatives of Sponsors, Cryptsoft, Dell, EMC, Fornetix, Futurex, Oracle, Red Hat, SafeNet, Symantec, Thales e-Security, VMware, and Vormetric, and to all TC participants for these accomplishments.

Public Reviews underway for XACML

XACML 3.0 Export Compliance-US Profile 1.0 describes the use of the eXtensible Access Control Markup Language in expressing policies for complying with USA government regulations for export compliance.

XACML Intellectual Property Control Profile 1.0 defines the use of XACML in expressing policies for intellectual property control.

Both public reviews end 19 Dec.

OASIS to keynote HealthyIoT event in Rome

Carol Cosgrove-Sacks, OASIS Senior Advisor on International Standards Policy, will provide the keynote address at the 1st International Conference on IoT Technologies for HealthCare, 27-29 Oct, in Rome, Italy. The event will explore how the Internet of Things can be applied in electronic patient care and medical data management.
