Having served the OASIS Board and community in several capacities nearly continuously since 2001, Jim Hughes of Microsoft has announced his retirement, effective 15 October 2014.
In compliance with the bylaws, a Special Election will be held and completed by 15 December. The exact nomination and balloting periods will be decided in the board meeting on 21 October and announced shortly thereafter. The winner of the Special Election will hold that seat until July 2016.
Anyone interested in this opportunity is encouraged to review the nomination and election process and expectations of the role as shown at
https://www.oasis-open.org/board/election-process and should feel welcome to contact me with any questions.
In closing, a quick word of thanks to Jim for his years of service as board member, Treasurer and most recently, his years as board Chairman. His dedication to the mission of OASIS and his professional judgement have been an important part of the organization's success and evolution over the years. We express our deepest gratitude and wish him well as embarks on the next adventure which we understand will include more family, more boat and less standards committee work.
