After nine years of Board service and leadership Dave Ings, of IBM, has announced his retirement from IBM and the OASIS Board. Dave's judgment, critical analysis and exemplar sense of decorum has served the board well through these years of deliberations. Most recently serving as Board Secretary and over the years Dave served on most of the Board Committees (Finance, Governance, IPR Policy, Process) Whenever the Board needed him, Dave stepped up and made a positive impact.
But now as we contemplate Dave's contributions to OASIS, we must open a Special Election to fill his seat which expires July 2019.
Nominations for the Special Election are now open and will close on 17 May - concurrently with the Annual Election Board nominations. It is strongly recommended that all board nominees extend their candidacy to both the Special Election and the Annual Election Ballot.
The Special Election Ballot and Annual Election ballots will run concurrently.
At ballot closing, the six candidates receiving the most votes in the Annual Election ballot will earn a seat which expires July 2020.
The Board Special Election winner will be determined after the Annual Election ballot is adjudicated. With all winners of the Annual Election disqualified from further consideration in the Special Election, the candidate receiving the most votes will win the seat which expires July 2019.
Thanks again to Dave for his service to OASIS. We wish him well as he spends more time with family and his scuba diving adventures-- which admittedly might be more fun then standards work.
