OASIS members,Â
The OASIS Board of Directors recently approved updates to the rules governing OASIS Open Projects. Staff recommended these changes to address feedback provided by experts in the open source community that we believe will make OASIS Open Projects an even more attractive home for new work. The Board's Process committee and IPR committee reviewed and improved the suggestions and the full Board approved them at its meeting on February 26th.Â
Broadly, the changes:Â
- Remove the distinction between Participants and Contributors and simply refer to "contributors" to the project;ÂÂ
- Allow projects to retain ownership of trademarks so long as they provide OASIS and its community with sufficient rights to incorporate them into our work;Â
- Make the Technical Steering Committee (TSC) a requirement; and
- Allow at least one member of the TSC to hold a seat on the Project Governing Board.Â
The attached redlined file shows these changes in detail.Â
As always, please let us know if you have any questions about these changes or about Open Projects generally. If you have an interest in starting a project, we're happy to go over the program with you in person.Â
Best regards,Â
/chetÂ
