OASIS is proud to host the Open Mobility Foundation,Âa global coalition led by cities committed to using well-designed, open source technology to evolve how cities manage transportation in the modern era. The OMF launched today with the mission to promote safety, equity and quality of life. The
announcement comes as a response to the growing number of vehicles and emerging mobility options on city streets.
The OMF brings together academic, commercial, advocacy and municipal stakeholders to help cities develop and deploy new digital mobility tools and provide the governance needed to efficiently manage them. The group is off to a great start withÂ
major support from the Rockefeller Foundation
. Founding municipal members
ÂincludeÂAustin, Texas; BogotÃ, Colombia; Chicago; Los Angeles; Louisville; Miami; Minneapolis; New York City; Philadelphia; Portland; San Francisco; San Jose; Santa Monica; Seattle; and Washington D.C. Initial non-public members include Bird, Blue Systems, Microsoft,Â
SPIN, and STAE. For more information on getting involved in OMF, seeÂhttps://www.openmobilityfoundation.org/participate/ or contact jamie.clark@oasis-open.org.ÂHosting for OMF is provided under the OASIS Open Development Foundation which supports groups that Âwish to run as separate, freestanding entities, operated with OASIS assistance. For more information on this program, see
Foundation-in-a-Box Operating Rules or contact me.
Congratulations to all involved in the OMF and best wishes on this important new area of work.
