Hi Tatsuzo,

It's down to the way the "remaining length" value is constructed. It
is 4 bytes with the most significant bit of each byte being a
continuation bit. This gives us 7 bits of integer data per "byte", so
a 28 bit integer in total. 2^28 = 268435456.
