I think that this should either be:

1. If Retain As Published is 1, ...
2. If the Retain As Published Subscription Option is 1 

I also see a 4th variation related to options:

2201 Bits 4 and 5 of the Subscription Options represent the Retain Handling option

so there are four variations which referring to options:

1. Long name with caps such as Retain As Published Subscription Option
2. Long name with mixed caps such as Retain As Published subscription option
3. Shorter name such as Retained As Published option
4. Shortest name such as Retained As Published
