Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] (MQTT-368) Consistency: Session Expiry [Interval]
[ https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/MQTT-368?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=64813#comment-64813 ] Ed Briggs commented on MQTT-368: -------------------------------- Closer examination reveals some subtleties that need to be clarified. Expiry is used to mean several different things: - The end of a session, whether due to a time out or other causes - The mechanism of ending a session (The Client can avoid implementing its own session expiry.. (3.1.2.12) - A message indicating a session has ended ('The Will Message is effectively a Session Expiry message.. (3.1.2.5) - The name of a property (If the Session Expiry Interval is not present) - The value of the property (Session Expiry Interval is greater than..) - A period of time (Session Expiry interval) (lower case i) For some readers, there is also a 'usage' problem (BrE = expiry, AmE = expiration). > Consistency: Session Expiry [Interval] > -------------------------------------- > > Key: MQTT-368 > URL: https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/MQTT-368 > Project: OASIS Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) TC > Issue Type: Bug > Components: edits > Affects Versions: 5, wd10 > Reporter: Brian Raymor > Assignee: Ed Briggs > Priority: Trivial > Fix For: 5, wd10 > > > There are multiple variations: > * Session Expiry Interval > * Session Expiry interval > * Session Expiry > For example (not a complete list): > 880 Interval is set to be longer than the Session Expiry ... > 953 ... the Session Expiry interval has > 965 ... before the Session Expiry interval has passed, > 1298 If the Server accepts a connection with Session Expiry set to 0 ... > 1301 If the Server accepts a connection with non zero Session Expiry -- This message was sent by Atlassian JIRA (v6.2.2#6258)
