Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] (MQTT-368) Consistency: Session Expiry [Interval]

    [ https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/MQTT-368?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=64813#comment-64813 ]

Ed Briggs commented on MQTT-368:
--------------------------------

Closer examination reveals some subtleties that need to be clarified. Expiry is used to mean several different things:
- The end of a session, whether due to a time out or other causes
- The mechanism of ending a session (The Client can avoid implementing its own session expiry.. (3.1.2.12)
- A message indicating a session has ended ('The Will Message is effectively a Session Expiry message.. (3.1.2.5)
- The name of a property (If the Session Expiry Interval is not present)
- The value of the property (Session Expiry Interval is greater than..)
- A period of time (Session Expiry interval) (lower case i)

For some readers, there is also a 'usage' problem (BrE = expiry, AmE = expiration).
