OASIS NEWS 13 October 2004 Welcome to OASIS News, a weekly update of announcements, accomplishments, and activities for the international standards consortium. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Review Proposed Changes to OASIS TC Process Members are asked to review a proposed revision of the OASIS TC Process, which governs the creation and operation of TCs, as well as the advancement and approval of the work they do. Because the OASIS TC Process supports the new IPR policy, both documents must be revised, approved and made effective simultaneously. Comments on the draft must be received by 10 Nov. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/members/200410/msg00004.html --------------------------------------------------------------------- OASIS Holds First Adoption Forum in Europe Last week's OASIS Adoption Forum in Brussels brought together users, vendors, government officials, and members of academia from Europe, North America, and Asia. In a keynote address, Alejandro Moya of the European Commission provided details on the Next Phase for e-Europe, stressing the importance of modernization and innovation in public administration. He also called for integration and the innovative use of ICT as the strategic enabler. The day concluded with a spirited panel discussion with representatives from OASIS, European Commission Program for Interchange of Data between Administrations (IDA), CEN/ISSS, and FEDICT, all of whom gave their own definition of ROI for adopting open standards. Members of the OASIS e-Government TC met prior to the Forum. The Consortium plans to hold a similar event in Fall 2005 following the OASIS Symposium in New Orleans 24-29 April 2005. http://www.oasis-open.org/events/adoption_forum/program.php --------------------------------------------------------------------- OASIS Prepares Japanese Website In support of increasing membership in Asia, the Consortium has translated a major portion of its public web pages into Japanese.
