11 April 2005

Welcome to OASIS News, a weekly update of announcements, accomplishments, and activities for the international standards consortium.

TC Submits DITA for OASIS Standard Vote

The OASIS Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) TC has submitted four approved Committee Drafts to be considered
collectively as an OASIS Standard. DITA provides an XML-based, end-to-end architecture for authoring, producing, and delivering
readable information as discrete, typed topics. The DITA Committee Drafts have completed the 30-day public review period, and OASIS
members now have until 15 April to familiarize themselves with the submission before balloting begins.

Reserve Hotel Rooms for OASIS Symposium

The deadline to reserve rooms under the OASIS conference rate has passed, and the Marriott New Orleans has opened the Symposium room
block to the general public. With the popularity of the concurrent Jazz Fest, space is becoming extremely tight. Those who have not
already done so are strongly advised to make hotel reservations today.

XML Consortium Translates WS-Security into Japanese

The WS-Security v1.0 OASIS Standard has been translated into Japanese by XML Consortium, a non-profit group which supports
enlightenment and encouragement of application development and system integration related to XML, Web services, and SOA, as well as
the standardization of XML vocabularies. Many thanks to this organization for enabling broader adoption of WS-Security in Japan.

OASIS Offers Logo Gear for Members

The Consortium has created a website for members who wish to order OASIS-branded merchandise. This third-party managed site offers a
variety of items that display official logos for approved OASIS Standards, OASIS Member Sections, and the general OASIS membership.
T-shirts, barbeque aprons, mouse pads, mugs, and more are available. (T-shirts are especially appropriate for promoting work at
conferences and events like the OASIS Symposium.) Items are sold at cost, and OASIS does not derive revenue from any purchases made.

OASIS DCML Adoption TC Forms

Members are collaborating to promote the use of the Data Center Markup Language in the new OASIS DCML Adoption TC. All interested
parties are welcome to join this effort to help organizations realize the promise of utility computing. The first TC meeting will be
held at the OASIS Symposium and by teleconference on Wednesday, 27 April.
