TC Submits DITA for OASIS Standard Vote

The OASIS Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) TC has submitted four approved Committee Drafts to be considered
collectively as an OASIS Standard. DITA provides an XML-based, end-to-end architecture for authoring, producing, and delivering
readable information as discrete, typed topics. The DITA Committee Drafts have completed the 30-day public review period, and OASIS
members now have until 15 April to familiarize themselves with the submission before balloting begins.

OASIS Adds Asia-Pacific Representative in Singapore

Patrick Chan, Ph.D., has joined the staff of OASIS to assist in advancing adoption and participation in Consortium work across the
Asia-Pacific area. Based in Singapore, he will focus on educational and business development activities.  Patrick draws on over 15
years of academic and industry consulting experience, serving in roles as diverse as technical director, global architect,
e-government specialist, business development and alliances director, and research scientist. He has worked for webMethods, TIBCO,
Mentortech and Institute of System Science.

Gartner Summit Will Feature WS-Security OASIS InterOp

Fifteen organizations will come together for the first time to demonstrate interoperability of the WS-Security OASIS Standard at the
Gartner Application Integration and Web Services Summit on 20 April in Los Angeles. WS-Security delivers a technical foundation for
implementing security functions such as integrity and confidentiality in messages implementing higher-level Web services
applications. OASIS InterOp Participants include BEA Systems, Computer Associates, DataPower, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, Reactivity,
Layer 7, Panacea, RSA Security, Sarvega, Sun Microsystems, Systinet, TIBCO, and Verisign.

Reserve Hotel Rooms for OASIS Symposium 

The deadline to reserve rooms under the OASIS conference rate has passed, and the Marriott New Orleans has opened the Symposium room
block to the general public. With the popularity of the concurrent Jazz Fest, space is becoming extremely tight. Those who have not
already done so are strongly advised to make hotel reservations today.

XML Consortium Translates WS-Security into Japanese

The WS-Security v1.0 OASIS Standard has been translated into Japanese by XML Consortium, a non-profit group which supports
enlightenment and encouragement of application development and system integration related to XML, Web services, and SOA, as well as
the standardization of XML vocabularies. Many thanks to this organization for enabling broader adoption of WS-Security in Japan.

OASIS Offers Logo Gear for Members

The Consortium has created a website for members who wish to order OASIS-branded merchandise. This third-party managed site offers a
variety of items that display official logos for approved OASIS Standards, OASIS Member Sections, and the general OASIS membership.
T-shirts, barbeque aprons, mouse pads, mugs, and more are available. (T-shirts are especially appropriate for promoting work at
conferences and events like the OASIS Symposium.) Items are sold at cost, and OASIS does not derive revenue from any purchases made.

OASIS DCML Adoption TC Forms

Members are collaborating to promote the use of the Data Center Markup Language in the new OASIS DCML Adoption TC. All interested
parties are welcome to join this effort to help organizations realize the promise of utility computing. The first TC meeting will be
held at the OASIS Symposium and by teleconference on Wednesday, 27 April.

Public Review of WebCGM 2.0 Ends 24 April

All interested parties are encouraged to review the WebCGM v2.0 Committee Draft before the close of its 30-day public review on 24
April. WebCGM is a profile of the Computer Graphics Metafile standard (ISO/IEC 8632), which describes how CGM vectors, raster, and
hybrid graphics are used on the Web.
