22 July 2005

Welcome to OASIS News, a weekly update of announcements, accomplishments, and activities for the international standards consortium.

Save with Early Bird Discount on OASIS Adoption Forum

Register now for the OASIS Adoption Forum and receive a 50 USD discount. This year's Forum, which will be held in London, 17 Oct,
brings together users, vendors, governments, and researchers from Europe and around the world to examine the open standards that
profoundly affect government, health care, and commerce. The program features many OASIS members delivering insight and updates on
work in Web services, tax, business process, and localization.

OASIS Offers Wikis for TCs

In response to requests by TCs, OASIS has installed a wiki server and is currently conducting a beta test of its functionality with
several TCs, including the OASIS XRI and XDI TCs. Wikis are considered by some to be a useful "scratch space" tool for collaborative
work. The testing phase for this optional facility is expected to be complete as early as the end of July. TCs that would find
benefit in a wiki should contact tc-admin@oasis-open.org.

OASIS HumanMarkup TC Publishes White Paper

The new HumanMarkup Language white paper addresses the vision to improve the fidelity of human-to-human, human-to-machine and
machine-to-machine communication in digital information systems that represent human information, issues, and concerns. HumanML uses
XML contextually to convey cultural, social, kinesics, and psychological intent within communications.

Public Review of WS Notification Commences

All interested parties are requested to provide comments on the WS Notification specification and related documents, which provide a
pattern-based approach to allow dissemination of information between Web services. The package submitted for public review by the
OASIS WSN TC consists of WS-BaseNotification and WS-BrokeredNotification. The deadline for submission of comments is 12 Sept.

The OASIS Web Services Composite Application Framework TC has submitted v0.9.2 of WS-Context for public review. WS-CAF provides an
open framework for support of coordinated and transactional compositions of multiple Web services. The 15-day review ends 5 Aug.

OASIS Seeks Candidates for Regional Offices Program

OASIS is seeking organizations that will act as local points of contact for the Consortium, promoting the work of OASIS, providing
local language assistance, and encouraging international participation. The OASIS Regional Offices Program was created to increase
awareness and local participation, better facilitate collaboration, and promote awareness and adoption of OASIS standards and
specifications within a specific geographic community. Ideal candidates for this new program include institutes, universities,
non-profit organizations, and government agencies.
