OASIS News
6 January 2006

Welcome to OASIS News, a weekly update of announcements, accomplishments, and activities for the international standards consortium.

EML and WS-Security Submitted for Consideration as OASIS Standards

OASIS members are asked to review two new candidates for OASIS Standards. Election Markup Language (EML) v4.0, submitted by the
OASIS Election and Voter Services TC, is designed to enable the exchange of data for public and private election services. The
WS-Security v1.1 specification, developed by the OASIS Web Services Security (WSS) TC, delivers a technical foundation for
implementing security functions such as integrity and confidentiality in messages implementing higher-level Web services
applications. The familiarization period for both specifications ends 15 Jan, and a call for voting will be issued 16 Jan.

Public Review of WS-Topics Specification Begins

The OASIS Web Services Notification (WSN) TC has approved the WS-Topics v1.3 specification for public review. All interested parties
are encouraged to provide comments on this document, designed to advance a pattern-based approach allowing Web services to
disseminate information to one another. Comments on WS-Topics must be received by 20 Jan.

Volunteers Work to Translate WSBPEL into Japanese

The BPEL Seminar, a volunteer group, is currently translating the OASIS Web Services Business Process Execution Language (WSBPEL)
specification into Japanese. In order to avoid duplication, all those interested in translating WSBEL or BPEL4WS into Japanese are
asked to review the BPEL Seminar wiki at http://wiki.livedoor.jp/the_pandas_panda/d/Translation.
OASIS encourages volunteer efforts like this to translate or fund the translation of OASIS Standards, specifications or other
documents. Review the OASIS Translation Policy for details.
